TRIUMPH OF THE HOLY CROSS - YEAR A
The CROSS is so much a sign of our faith. We make the sign of the cross so often. People know we are Catholics because we use it - you see it in the media. Just think of sportspeople, especially at football, and at the Olympics. Yet the sign calls us to give thanks to God for all that Christ achieved for us through his death on the Cross and his glorious Resurrection!
Lifted up among us, O God, is Jesus the crucified: sign of your steadfast love and pledge of your will to save. To those who look upon the cross with faith grant healing of sould and eternal life. ICEL 1997
The Year of Paul Called by Pope Benedict, continues until 29th June 2009. Last sunday we dedicated the icon of St Paul and the shrine in our church. Do pay a visit there to light a candle. Paul says for today's feast - "Let us glory in the cross of our Lord jesus Christ, for he is our salvation, our life and our resurrection. Through him we are saved and made free." (Galatians 6:14)
Living the Catholic Life - Overview of September 2008 The month of September is dedicated to Our Lady of Sorrows, whose memorial the Church celebrates on September 15. September falls during the liturgical season known as Ordinary Time, which is represented by the liturgical color green.
Focus on the Liturgy The Gospels for the Sundays in September 2008 are taken from Year A, Cycle 2, the Gospels of St. Matthew and St. John. September 7th - 23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time If two agree on earth to ask anything it will be granted by my Father in heaven. September 14st - Triumph of the Cross God so loved the world that He gave his only Son. September 21th - 25th Sunday in Ordinary Time This Gospel relates the parable of the workers who came late to the vineyard but received the same pay. September 28th - 26th Sunday in Ordinary Time In this Gospel Jesus tells the parable of the two sons sent to the vineyard by their father.

Parish Prayer
Leader - Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful All - And kindle in them the fire of your love Leader - Send forth your Spirit, and they shall be created All - And you will renew the face of the earth Leader - Let us pray (we pause) ALL - Lord, by the light of the Holy Spirit, you have taught the hearts of your faithful. In the same Spirit help us to love what is right and always rejoice in your consolation. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
